A short flying safari to the Masai Mara is a superb way to see this world-famous game reserve, teaming with wildlife, without spending too much time travelling by road. The Masai Mara National Reserve (also known as Masai Mara and by locals as The Mara) is a large game reserve in Narok County, Kenya, next to the Serengeti National Park in Mara Region, Tanzania. It is named in honour of the Maasai people (the ancestral inhabitants of the area) and their description of the area when looked at from afar: 'Mara' which is Maa (Maasai language) for 'spotted' an apt description for the circles of trees, scrub, savanna and cloud shadows that mark the area. It's famous for its exceptional population of Masai lions, African leopards and Tanzanian cheetahs as well as The Great Migration, which takes place annually, of; zebra, Thomson's gazelle and wildebeest to and from the Serengeti from July to October. Two nights are spent at the delightful, Ol-Moran Tented Camp.
From Wilson Airport, fly by light aircraft to the Masai Mara (approx 1 hour) and transfer to your camp. After lunch, enjoy a late afternoon game drive.
Enjoy an early morning game drive, then back to the camp for breakfast. Relax and enjoy the camp before taking lunch - and in the late afternoon, it's time for your game drive which will reveal more of this superb game park!
Fly back to Nairobi in the morning and continue with your onward travel arrangement.
