Private Full Day Tour to Ayutthaya, from Bangkok

  • Explore the city of Ayutthaya on a day trip from Bangkok
  • Discover the ruins and temples of the ancient Kingdom of Siam
  • Visit Bang-Pa-In Summer Palace
  • Lunch at a local restaurant included

Leave the Thai capital Bangkok for a day excursion to the former capital of the Siam Kingdom: Ayutthaya. Ayutthaya is home to some of the most important historical and cultural sites of Thailand and is nowadays a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

We start the day from your Bangkok CBD accommodation at approximately 08:30 am to head north towards Ayutthaya. Upon arrival, we start the day off by visiting the Wat Mongkol Borpith and the massive bronze statues.

Afterwards, we head to Wat Phra Sri Sanpetch. This temple used to be the holiest one at the Royal Palace until the destruction of Ayutthaya in the 18th century. At current times, there are no monks in the royal chapel, but the temple is impressive nonetheless.

The next stop on our temple hunt is Wat Yai Chai Mongkol (Wat Yai Chai Mongkhon) - this temple gives you more of an idea of what the ancient kingdom must have been like. Its giant chedi (stupa) is still very much intact although the temple has been destroyed in parts during the Burmese invasion in 1767. Wat Yai Chai Mongkol is one of the most visited temples in Ayutthaya and often serves as a museum about King Nareusan.

We stop for lunch at a local restaurant before continuing to Bang-Pa-In. We reach the former summer residence of the early Chakri kings by boat. In particular King Rama V spent lots of time at the Royal Summer Residence. Here you find buildings in Gothic, Renaissance, Chinese and Thai architecture. King Prasad Thong built the palace as a temple in 1632, but later on other royal kings changed the summer residence and added their own palaces on to Bang-Pa-In. Adequate dress code is required to enter the palace grounds.

After this eventful and cultural day we leave Ayutthaya in our private vehicle and return to the bustling metropolis Bangkok where we expect to arrive at approximately 06:00 pm.
